Combining the forces of SEO and Usability
Approaching Usability and SEO independently is counterproductive to realising website objectives. These two disciplines can work together to increase both traffic and user experience. They should be a happy marriage; mutually beneficial, not mutually exclusive. One is needed to ensure the success of the other: a good website needs to attract visitors; and visitors require a good website in order to convert their visit into a transaction. This research paper provides a roadmap of how these services can be leveraged to complement each other and to avoid potential conflict. What we've been up to...
UsabilityOne team expands once again. Welcome Sandrine Balbo Now Offering New Accessibility Services
Sandrine's career in usability started in the early 1990's while doing her PhD on automatic usability evaluation. Prior to joining UsabilityOne she worked as a business analyst for Deakin University in Geelong, an academic for The University of Melbourne, an Information Architect for a digital agency in London and as a research scientist for the Human-Computer Interaction team at CSIRO in Sydney. She is passionate about Usability Engineering in general with a strong interest in usability evaluation but also embracing modelling techniques, including the ones for user requirement gathering (such as task models or the Business Process Modelling Notation) or participatory design (such as the contextual design models).
Outside work, Sandrine plans to start scuba diving again (after a long break!). So if any of you are looking for a buddy, let her know. She was an instructor while at Uni, and did a lot of dives in Sydney.
We are pleased to see that more of our clients recognise the importance of accessibility and are keen to improve the accessibility of their website. This is why we have decided to offer new accessibility services, including:
  • A one day accessibility training course - where you can learn the basics of accessibility.
  • Accessibility workshops - tailored to issues observed on your website.
  • Review of functional and design specifications -it allows you to identify the major accessibility issues before the website is coded.
